Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba summoned by DCI ahead of Ruto’s Kiambu visit

Githunguri Member of Parliament, Gathoni Wamuchomba, has been summoned to appear at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Kiambu Road, just hours before President William Ruto visits Kiambu County.
In a post on her X account on Saturday, Wamuchomba confirmed receiving a call from the DCI to appear before it.

“The CCIO of Kiambu called and summoned me, because the great people of Githunguri refused to be lured by fake promises and projects that never materialised. Arrests you can do, but that will not change the facts! No more lies! You promised, deliver,” she said.

A video seen by the Eastleigh Voice shows residents, reportedly from Githunguri Town in Kiambu, chanting, “Ruto Must Go,” as they roamed the streets into the night.
The summons comes as President Ruto is set to conclude his 5-day tour of the Mt. Kenya region, with his final stop in Githunguri, Kiambu County.
The tour, which began on April 1, is his first in six months since the impeachment of his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
During his tour, the president has visited Laikipia, Meru, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, and Nyeri, receiving a warm reception despite initial concerns.
In Kiambu, Ruto is expected to inspect key ongoing government projects, such as the Mau Mau Roads at Nyanduma in Lari, cold rooms at various markets, and affordable housing initiatives.
Additionally, the president will evaluate the Githunguri County Integrated Industrial Park, which lies in Wamuchomba’s constituency.
The timing of the summons raises questions, as it coincides with Ruto’s visit to an area where Wamuchomba has recently been vocal in her criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
As an ally of former Deputy President Gachagua, Wamuchomba has been a strong critic of the government in recent months.
